Arizona Now has only One Accredited “Master Surgeon”

Written by admin on Sep 15th, 2017 | Filed under: Press Releases

MESA, AZ  9/15/2017 – Dr. Greg Marchand MD, a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist dedicated to reducing invasive surgeries, was the first in Arizona to be awarded the new prestigious “Master Surgeon” designation today by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC).  Dr. Marchand is a practicing surgeon in Arizona’s East Valley, and widely published in minimally invasive surgery.  Dr. Marchand also holds World Records in Minimally invasive surgery including a Guinness World Record for minimally invasive Hysterectomy.

The designation of “Master Surgeon” was created by the Surgical Review Corporation to recognize surgeons of the highest levels of patient care and quality outcomes. Dr. Marchand is the only surgeon in the state of Arizona to hold the “Master Surgeon” accreditation at this time.

The Surgical Review Corporation, (SRC) is an AAGL (American Associate of Gynecologic Laparoscopists) sponsored, internationally recognized medical accreditation company which manages prestigious designations such as the “Center of Excellence Program.”  They announced their new designation program including the title of “Master Surgeon” earlier today.  Dr. Marchand was among the first designees in the United States, and the only designee in the state of Arizona.

“I am excited to be awarded this designation and really hope this sparks a lot of new conversations about the exciting breakthroughs in minimally invasive surgery.”  Dr. Marchand said. “Far too many women are being cut open for procedures that could be performed through minimally invasive means.  I hope the new “Master Surgeon” program inspires Surgeons and Hospitals to pursue the most minimally invasive techniques and the best outcomes for their patients.”

Previously, SRC and AAGL have bestowed the prestigious “Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology” (COEMIG) designation on some of the nation’s finest surgical hospitals.  Past recipients have included Kaiser Permanente in California and Penn State Hospital.  The “Master Surgeon” program will now recognize individual surgeons for excellence in their fields.

We congratulate Dr. Marchand for his accreditation,” says Ashley DuBray, SRC senior director.  “To achieve accreditation, Dr. Marchand invited SRC to complete a rigorous onsite inspection and thorough chart review to illustrate his compliance with the program. Dr. Marchand and his practice exemplify SRC’s commitment to patient safety and care.”

In contrast to typical surgical procedures, such as a traditional hysterectomy in which a woman’s abdomen is cut open, the uterus removed and then the incision site sutured, minimally invasive techniques use thin needles, very small incisions and an endoscope to guide the surgical tools through the smaller openings. Trauma to the body and recovery time are both reduced with such surgical options, and patients often leave the hospital the same day as the procedure.

Dr. Marchand’s technique for hysterectomies is so refined that he holds a 2008 Guinness World Record for removing a 7-pound uterus laparoscopically. He is also extensively published in medical journals for his research and innovation in developing techniques in minimally invasive surgery.

ABOUT DR. GREG MARCHAND MD, FACS, FACOG, FICS

Dr. Marchand is originally from Providence, RI, and is a board certified physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology.  Dr. Marchand is extensively published in minimally invasive gynecology and is internationally recognized as a pioneer in developing laparoscopic techniques, as well as an expert minimally invasive surgeon and teaching surgeon. Dr. Marchand was recently honored with a World Record for removing a 17cm Malignant tumor using a special laparoscopic cancer staging technique he invented.  Dr. Marchand was also one half of the team that was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records(TM) for removing a seven pound uterus without needing to cut open the patient.  In addition, Dr. Marchand is one of the few OBGYN’s in the country to be a fellow of both ACOG (American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology) and ACS (American College of Surgeons.) When he is not in the operating room, Dr. Marchand enjoys low carbohydrate living and chasing around his four year old son, Sebastian. Visit www.gregmarchandmd.com to learn more.

Bones Like Snowflakes to Kick Off Tour with Acclaimed Drummer Avinash Ramachandra

Written by admin on Sep 14th, 2017 | Filed under: Press Releases

LOS ANGELES, Calif. –  The rock band Bones Like Snowflakes will kick off its 2017 tour with new drummer Avinash Ramachandra in October in Los Angeles.

“I’m very excited about joining the band taking part in this upcoming tour,” Ramachandra said. “The most exciting thing of being in a band is going on tour, you get to travel to so many cities and countries together and you’re getting paid to pretty much have fun while making music!”

Although dates for its upcoming shows are still pending, Bones Like Snowflakes will launch its nationwide tour in Los Angeles at The Echo sometime in October.

Known for energetic drumming and work with a slew of bands, most recently the Acid Quartet, Ramachandra brings an energy and playful approach to his work that has earned him a strong following and growing fan base.

“He blew us away at the audition and we knew right away he would do a great job for us.” Joseph said of the band’s new drummer. “We’re very excited to have him on board.”

The band, established in 2010 by Marvin Joseph, is known for its eclectic post-rock sound which features electric guitars and synthesizers in a blend of rock, jazz and reggae into a compelling blend of instrumental sound. The band is made up of Joseph on lead guitar, Marvin Zenarosa on rhythm guitar, Denise Santos on keyboards, Drew Elder on bass and Ramachandra on drums.

Born in Bangalore, India, Ramachandra found a passion for drumming began when he first watched Iron Maiden performing live at the age of 16. It was at that moment that he realized he wanted to play music for life.

After taking private drumming lessons and going on to join several bands, he graduated with a Bachelor’s in Engineering in Computer Science and decided to seek his fortune in the U.S. where he began studying music at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood. He would go on to perform with bands such as the Acid Quartet, Caleb Mark and others.

“Bones Like Snowflakes is a very unique band. Every song has a certain theme even though they are just instrumental and have no lyrics,” Ramachandra said. “The music has a very weird way of speaking to the audience through sound and visual backgrounds. The whole thing live is just a beautiful audio/visual trip.”

Bones Like Snowflakes is known for its recent album “Winter Quay/Summer Blankets,” as well as its other albums “Second Star to the Right,” and “Silent Movies I,” as well as the EP “Rewriting Icarius.”

Bones Like Snowflakes, is online at https://boneslikesnowflakes.bandcamp.com/

b4checkin’s b4easypost Achieves Oracle Validated Integration with Oracle Hospitality OPERA

Written by admin on Sep 14th, 2017 | Filed under: Press Releases

Hotels using Oracle Hospitality OPERA now have access to a Fully Automated and Secure Online Payment and Posting Solution

September 14, 2017 – b4checkin, Inc., a Gold level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), today announced it has completed Oracle Validated Integration of b4easypost v3.1 with Oracle Hospitality OPERA 5.5. b4easypost eliminates the use of credit card authorization forms with a secure and interactive platform for guests and meeting planners to make payments to hotels and then automatically posts those payments to Oracle Hospitality OPERA, therein with this two-way integration.

To achieve Oracle Validated Integration, Oracle partners are required to meet a stringent set of requirements that are based on the needs and priorities of the customers. Credit card authorization forms have long been a point of aggravation for hotels because they are inconvenient, prone to human error and, importantly, not PCI compliant. By eliminating this labor-intensive process, b4easypost provides an automatic, real-time system for hotels to connect deposits with guest accounts.

“We’re excited about this new integration with Oracle Hospitality OPERA because our payment and posting solution can seamlessly post, so it can now help thousands of hotels alleviate an antiquated business practice that is not in line with current technology or security standards,” said Saar Fabrikant, president and CEO of b4checkin. “b4easypost increases customer convenience and satisfaction by streamlining the payment process as well as reducing costs for hotels by eliminating credit card authorization forms and the labor necessary to handle this manual process.”

“Achieving Oracle Validated Integration gives our customers confidence that the integration between b4easypost and Oracle Hospitality OPERA is functionally sound and performs as tested,” said David Hicks, vice president, Worldwide ISV, OEM and Java Business Development, Oracle.  “For solutions deployed on-premises, in the cloud, or both, Oracle Validated Integration applies a rigorous technical review and test process that helps to reduce deployment risk and improves the user experience of the partner’s integrated offering.”

In addition to reservations and group payments, b4easypost can also facilitate miscellaneous payments such as gift cards, lost and found payments and offer other key benefits, including:

  • Reduces PCI scope at the hotel with PCI compliance
  • Validates reservations and groups in real-time
  • Posts automatically to Oracle Hospitality OPERA
  • Lowers labor costs with hands-free process
  • Eliminates printing costs
  • Lowers transaction fees

Former wedi Corp. Sales Representative Found to Have Breached Confidentiality Agreement

Written by admin on Sep 13th, 2017 | Filed under: Press Releases

BATAVIA, Illinois, September 13, 2017 – wedi Corp. (“wedi”), the manufacturer of wedi® Building Panels and shower floor elements used in the construction of waterproof shower systems and other tiled wet rooms, announced that certain arbitration proceedings commenced in July 2015 in Chicago, Illinois, against Brian Wright (“Wright”), a former wedi regional sales representative, and his company Sound Product Sales L.L.C. (“SPS”) have concluded. The arbitrator found that Wright breached his confidentiality agreement prohibiting him from disclosing or using wedi’s confidential information without wedi’s permission. Wright’s contract with wedi appointing him as wedi’s regional sales manager and his and SPS’s contract appointing them as wedi’s sales agent in the Pacific Northwest both contained confidentiality provisions. Wright was found to have improperly disclosed wedi’s confidential information to wedi’s competitors before resigning in September 2014.

“I thought I could trust him,” said Bastian Lohmann, wedi’s Vice President Sales & Marketing and Wright’s former boss. “Not just because of his contract with wedi, but because I considered him a friend and believed him to be a loyal member of our team.” Mr. Lohmann explained: “I had no idea that Brian was taking confidential information we shared with him regarding such sensitive matters as wedi’s sales figures, marketing budgets, product mix and business strategy, and disclosing it to our competitors for several years before he left wedi, sometimes within minutes of receiving it from me. Brian admitted knowing in the arbitration that the information he was disclosing was confidential to wedi and that he would have been fired had we known about it, but he did it anyway to advance his own interests in competing directly against us.”

Mr. Lohmann added: “Brian is currently selling product made in China and imported into the United States by the same people he shared our confidential information with while he was employed as our sales agent. Proving that he breached his obligations of confidentiality to wedi in his efforts to help wedi’s competitors was important to us in our efforts to protect against the disclosure of our business secrets and resulting unfair and unethical competition. With wedi’s first US manufacturing plant in Batavia, Illinois, starting to produce this year, and with the addition of more than 50 new employees dedicated to our mission, our commitment to defend our investments and our business against unfair competition from China or anywhere else is only strengthened. We are hopeful that justice will be done in our remaining litigation against Brian Wright and his associates.”

wedi currently has claims pending against Seattle Glass Block, Inc., a former wedi sales agent and distributor owned by Wright, in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois alleging breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and misappropriation of trade secrets. wedi also has claims pending in federal court in Washington against Hydroblok International Ltd. (“Hydroblok”) alleging tortious interference with contract, aiding and abetting fiduciary duty, conspiracy and misappropriation of trade secrets, and claims against Hydroblok, Wright and Hydroblok-USA LLC (another Wright-owned company) for violations of the Lanham Act based on allegations of false or misleading statements in their advertising, violations of the Washington Consumer Protection Act, and tortious interference with wedi’s contractual and business relationships with its customers and potential customers.
