Newport Hospitality Group Opens Residence Inn Blacksburg in Blacksburg, Virginia

Written by admin on Sep 27th, 2017 | Filed under: Press Releases

Williamsburg, VA and Blacksburg, VA: (September 27, 2017) Newport Hospitality Group Inc., (NHG) a leading hotel management company, has opened the Residence Inn Blacksburg-University on September 8, 2017, located next to Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia.

This Residence Inn features 126 rooms and suites, and is the newest property in the fast-growing Blacksburg-Christiansburg-Radford metropolitan area. Built on a site previously occupied by a hotel that had outlived its intended use, this new property’s main driver of demand is its proximity to the university which has grown to surround the location.

Prior to opening the Residence Inn Blacksburg-University, NHG also built the Hyatt Place Blacksburg/University on the same site. This hotel debuted to the public in May 2017 and is already highly successful under NHG’s ongoing management. The construction of both branded properties involved the demolition of the existing structure followed by a full redevelopment of the underlying site, which included the building of the two new hotels as well as 39,000 square feet of combined retail space with CVS as an anchor store partner.

To ensure that this project would be a resounding success, NHG teamed with two Virginia Tech alumni – development partners Kirk Johnson and Shivon Dosky – so that the local needs were thoroughly understood from very early on in the planning phase. The combined team worked tirelessly over several years to assess several development scenarios before finally settling on a mixed-use, hotel-retail plan. Once the vision was finalized, NHG then complemented this regional knowledge by sourcing the general contractor and designers.

Over its 26-year history, NHG has been intricately involved in the development of numerous hotels, leading the design, building and opening processes. These development projects have been spearheaded by Newport’s CEO, Andrew Carey, who has built a team of design and construction experts capable of delivering the most complex projects.

“This redevelopment is a testament to our hotel sourcing and development expertise, as well as our dedication to guest service excellence,” said Andrew Carey, CEO at NHG. “We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to reinvigorate this land and to continue to play an important role in the growth of the Blacksburg market. From enhancing the initial design to hotel launch, we were able to draw upon our extensive experience to enable both the Residence Inn and Hyatt Place to excel in their market.”

Residence Inn by Marriott specializes in extended stays and is widely recognized as one of the crown jewels in Marriott’s family of brands. It offers great value to its guests and is an excellent source of portfolio diversification for owners. Parallel to this, the sub-brand is known for its exceptional customer service. NHG recruited the best local talent and engaged them with rigorous training so that all associates were fluent in the chain’s systems and brand standards well before both hotels’ openings.

Computhink Named Among Top 10 Accounts Payable Solution Providers 2017

Written by admin on Sep 26th, 2017 | Filed under: Press Releases

For the Contentverse ECM system, Computhink has been named one of the Top Ten Accounts Payable Solution Providers of 2017 by CFO Tech Outlook Magazine. Contentverse offers users many vital utilities as standard, namely the intelligent automated workflow with email notifications. This integral element of the software streamlines any Accounts Payable operation whether at the accounting department level or company-wide for accounting firms. In their selection process, CFO Tech Outlook reviewed Computhink’s and other vendors’ ability to fulfill the need for cost-effective and concrete solutions that add value to the accounts payable landscape. It is due to not only Contentverse’s workflow capabilities but also to its long list of standard features that Computhink has been given a place in the magazine’s 2017 lineup.

Accounting employees and executives are familiar with the continuous procedure of sending and receiving documents for approval. Whether vendor invoices or purchase orders, files can be organized into one single document. These documents can be organized by whatever categories your company chooses, such as customer, document type, purchase order number, date, and so on. You can then search for a particular document based on invoice number, vendor name, etc. This saves hours of searching for paper documents or documents saved to a simple filing structure.

Contentverse also stores documents with multi-layered, encryption-based security. Bookkeepers will find that files are inaccessible to outside parties or employees without clearance, but for those with permissions, the same files can be accessed and reviewed easily. With CV mobile, Contentverse can be utilized even away from the office by those controllers and accountants who sometimes need a few extra hours with the books. Contentverse also offers real-time automation of notifications; for instance, when a document has been approved in a workflow. Accounting professionals can stay up to date with their financial processes anytime, anywhere.

Computhink’s own controller, Brent Vignola, spoke on behalf of the company in a full page feature about Contentverse. His insight into the product comes from daily use, processing invoices, purchase orders, receipts, expense reports, the list goes on. Vignola sees all manner of financial documents come across his desk every day, and all of them are scanned, emailed or otherwise sent into Contentverse for indexing and automated processing. The controller highlights, among many other features, the optional retention policies that can be implemented for contracts. Using an internal alert system, a controller could manage the life cycle of a document with an internal alert system. Such contracts can even be set to go into a workflow at a certain time so that your company never misses payments or renewals.

With cloud options, mobile applications, and data security constantly changing, CFOs seek new solutions that can keep pace. Accounts Payable teams need software that can connect everyone in the office and increase accessibility without sacrificing security. There are hundreds of content management, business process management, and financial solutions in the market today. CFO Tech Outlook Magazine‘s distinguished panel of CEOs, CFOs, CIOs, and other financial professionals chose Computhink among their Top Ten Accounts Payable Solution Providers this year.

Lexy Hammonds Joins Sean Patrick Cannon’s Hollywood Tale ‘Girl Games’

Written by admin on Sep 21st, 2017 | Filed under: Press Releases

LOS ANGELES, Calif. –  Acclaimed actress Lexy Hammonds has recently been cast in the leading role of “Miranda” in Sean Patrick Cannon’s upcoming dramedy “Girl Games,” a tale of passion and betrayal in Hollywood. The film is now in production.

“The role of Miranda has a bundle of color – something that will allow me to really dive in and dig deep to try and understanding the complexities of who she is,” Hammonds said. “Miranda is misunderstood, but deep down is a protagonist with something to prove.”

The film, written and directed by renowned director Sean Patrick Cannon (“American High School”), tells the story of a beloved Hollywood star who faces the worst PR nightmare possible – he is blacklisted. The women in his life now stand in the way of his quest toward redemption, settling down, or leaving an industry he loves – an industry that now hates him. The film is being co-produced by Solomon Productions, who are best known for their four-time award-winning film “The Code of Cain,” starring Eric Roberts.

Known for her roles as the antagonist, Hammonds said “This role will allow me step away from my typecast. Growing up I was always drawn to complex characters that demand more from an actor, that challenge your skill as an artist, and Miranda gives me the opportunity to do this.” Hammonds is co-starring with Gina Hiraizumi (“The Fast and the Fierce”), Lauren Caster (“Stitchers”), Nick Shakoour (Hawaii Five-O) and Rae Sunshine Lee (“Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie”).

“Lexy has brought a relaxed, positive attitude to set and is truly a great pleasure to work with and be around,” Cannon said. “Her work ethic is unparalleled, consistently surpassing my highest expectations, innately mastering my vision of the character.”

Since moving stateside several years ago, Hammonds has been in demand for an impressive list of diverse roles in several major productions. Her most recent ventures include her leading roles in “Comfort,” the directorial debut of two-time Academy Award nominee Stephane Ceretti (“Dr. Strange,”), Across The Pond’s latest Google campaign “Opinion Rewards” directed by two-time Cannes Lion Winner Jonathon Zames, as well as Alliance/A New Era’s “Voices” which has recently been nominated for “Best Drama” at the CCH Film Festival, as well as televised on American television.

One of her most known films includes her starring role as the saucy Christina in Sky Culture Entertainment’s “Ri Luo Ci Qi” which garnered over 300 million views on Tencent; China’s leading online distribution site for film and TV, receiving VIP status.

“It’s a comedy about a couple trying to rekindle their relationship who run into a whole lot of trouble when they decide to vacate to Los Angeles. I of course being the trouble!” Hammonds said.

Born in Market Bosworth in Leicestershire, England, Hammonds grew up surrounded by the arts, realizing her love for the craft at age 8 after her debut role as Henrietta Baskerville in “The Hound of the Baskervilles.” She went on to study at the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts which bred the likes of Anne Hathaway, Grace Kelly, Paul Rudd and Robert Redford and to this day, she enjoys the works of William Shakespeare, Noel Coward, Ted Hughes and Neil Simon.

A professionally trained and with a long list of impressive credits, Britain’s Lexy Hammonds has been tapped for a starring role in another of Sean Patrick Cannon’s films, psychological thriller “Christmas Eve” which will go into pre-production in 2019.

“Girl Games” is a Solomon Films Productions presentation, distributed by Nonstop Media. Producers are Kristifor Cvijetic and Siarhel Zhdanovich, written and directed by Sean Patrick Cannon, cinematography by Joe Passarelli, and editing by Sean Patrick Cannon and Michael Darrow.

When PIM Gets Really Complicated

Written by admin on Sep 20th, 2017 | Filed under: Press Releases

Product information management for conglomerates can be devilishly difficult, but there are ways to do it right, say experts at Earley Information Science roundtable

It’s hard enough to design and implement a “garden variety” product information management (PIM) program. Even at a single-line company with a straightforward structure and limited market reach, it’s just not that easy to figure out product names, determine which attributes to tout and organize everything into an effective system—and somehow also win consensus from various stakeholders along the way.

But the challenges, and potential pitfalls, are exponentially greater at conglomerates and other complex decentralized enterprises, where PIM may have to function as a shared platform across numerous operating units, or even separate companies, in any number of markets or perhaps all around the world. Consensus in this context has to be reached despite yawning differences in processes, priorities, products and services.

The task is formidable, so much so that you have to ask whether there are too many variations to support “one system of record,” says Dino Eliopulos, Managing Director of Earley Information Science (EIS). “What are the limits to the value of supporting a centralized system? Can so many different business units all standardize on a single PIM model?”

The do’s and don’ts of implementation, and the reasons why PIM is still very much worth the effort, were discussed by a panel of manufacturing, distribution and knowledge management experts at an Executive Roundtable hosted on Aug. 31 by EIS, a leading consulting firm focused on organizing information for business impact.

Among other things, big decentralized enterprises have to decide “what products belong in the PIM and what data is appropriate to master for those products,” Eliopulos said, and whether to use a “big bang” approach to implementation or one that is incremental. And they have to settle on the right governance structure.

The roundtable discussion, “Product Information Management for Conglomerates: The Best Approach for Complex Decentralized Enterprises,” was led by Eliopulos and included Marguerite Eddy, Principal Data Architect at National Instruments, a producer of automated test equipment and virtual instrumentation software, and Jennie Yates, Manager, eCommerce Catalog and Content, at WESCO Distribution, an electronics distribution and services company.

“PIM’s always a good idea,” said Yates. “It’s a very difficult journey to start, when you are looking at it from an enterprise-wide management point of view,” but the potential payoff is enormous. “It’s really part of that whole master data management [MDM], big data theory of reaping the benefits of having all of your product data in one place,” serving multiple parts of the enterprise.

“The true secret sauce in starting the journey,” Yates added, “is not to look at it as technical implementation,” which is certainly involved, but rather as a chance to understand the business processes of all affected entities and operations and identify the things that need to change. Through these conversations “you begin to develop your requirements to get a shared PIM throughout the organization that would be in everybody’s interest.”

Eddy agreed. “We went through strategic sessions with stakeholders across the company to define what we meant by product and to determine the scope of what we were working with. And only then did we start looking at technology.”

“That upfront input,” Yates added, “defines the business process that’s going to support the PIM,” including change management and the commitment to provide more resources.

The panelists also discussed the types of data that belong in the PIM, including product attributes; the considerations in deciding between the big bang and incremental transition approaches; the need for dual maintenance in making the shift from legacy systems; and the governance issues that can affect time to market.

The roundtable featured a real-time survey of the webinar attendees:

  • When asked how they are using PIM in their organization, 20% said enterprise-wide as the system of record for all product content and 30% said across many business units or departments. But the remaining 50% said they don’t have a PIM system of any kind
  • When asked if they are using PIM for master data, 9% said they master all of their product data across all channels, 9% use such data for digital channels and 36% said PIM is one of a number of sources of product data. Another 45% said they did not use PIM for master data management
  • Finally, when asked if they could see their business using PIM as an MDM platform across all lines of business and subsidiaries, 17% said they are already doing just that “to great effect” and another 17% said they have plans and funding to follow suit within the next 12 months. Meanwhile, 33% said they are evaluating the various approaches and another 33% have no plans and are not interested

Please use these links to access the roundtable and a related article.

The Earley Executive Roundtable is an educational webinar series focusing on topics of interest in the areas of digital transformation and information science. Each month, EIS leads a lively discussion with a panel of industry experts.

The next roundtable is scheduled for Sept. 28, on the topic of “Beyond Taxonomy: How Manufacturers and Distributors Are Innovating in eCommerce.”  To sign up, contact Sharon Foley at
