Alabama House Approves Drastic Regulations That Would Eliminate a Financial Lifeline and an Entire Industry

HB 160 Removes Key Finance Option from Working Class Families Injured in Accidents

Montgomery, AL — State lawmakers in the Alabama House, took a disappointing step toward eliminating a product that has proven to be a lifeline for constituents. The House passed HB 160, which would effectively take away the availability of Consumer Legal Funding for the many people in Alabama who seek help making ends meet financially after they’ve been injured in accidents that are not their fault, and while they wait for the long process of getting an insurance settlement. For people who have to miss some work while they recover, Consumer Legal Funding helps them keep their families afloat by providing money for basic necessities like rent/mortgage, transportation, electric bills and groceries.

The regulations imposed by HB 160 are so drastic, they will have just one effect: putting an entire industry out of business and taking the helpful option of Consumer Legal Funding away from working class people. One such person is Ron Iocca, a Phenix City man who recently explained how legal funding helped him, and urged Alabama lawmakers to keep the interests of constituents at the forefront. Ron told lawmakers:

“I know I would not have been able to make it through those two painful years the case was being dragged out, and to get a fair settlement, had it not been for Legal Funding.” (full story at this address: (more comments from Alabamians at this address:

There is proof that drastically harsh regulations will drive businesses out of places that enact them. Legislation similar to HB 160 was enacted last year in Tennessee, and this year in Arkansas. Dozens of Consumer Legal Funding companies have pulled out of those states. The vast need for their service among constituents will not be met.

4 states have enacted common sense legislation to regulate the Consumer Legal Funding industry in a way that ensures people have access to the important financial tool if they need and want it. We urge lawmakers in the Alabama Senate to follow this lead and take a more measured approach that regulates Consumer Legal Funding in a way that keeps it available to help the people of Alabama.

The Alliance for Responsible Consumer Legal Funding (ARC) represents a coalition of consumer legal funding companies, service providers, academics, and other industry supporters. It works at the state and federal levels to ensure the proper regulation of the legal funding industry in the United States. ARC aims to accomplish this mission by advocating at the state level for rules containing appropriate pricing and a high degree of consumer protection—including adequate licensing and disclosure requirements, and suitable limitations on fees—and at the federal level by working with policymakers to help ensure the alignment of federal and state regulatory efforts affecting the legal funding industry. Spotify & blinkbox Music are the best loved Music Apps: Connected Digital

Written by admin on Apr 27th, 2015 | Filed under: Press Releases

As if the music industry itself isn’t competitive enough, it seems that the music “App” business is equally, if not more competitive. An Apple App Store search for “Music” in the UK app store returns over 36,000 results and a similar search in Google Play will have you trawling through many thousands of music related Android apps before you get to the end of it.

In order to help music lovers work out which of the many thousands of apps are the best, Connected Digital have analysed app reviews from the top Android and Apple apps to identify which service is the greatest. By comparing the volume and percentage of 5 and 1 star reviews Connected Digital were able to create a definitive Top 10 Best Loved Music Apps list.

We can see from the table that Spotify tops the list but blinkbox Music isn’t far behind and when you consider they have the best liked Android app it supports the statement that both Spotify and blinkbox Music are the best loved. What we can also see from the table is that there is a noticeable gap from the 4th placed SoundHound, down to 5th place MTV Trax and that the 2nd,3rd and 4th placed apps are all quite close together in the 67-70% 5 star bracket.

Spotify has significantly more reviews than any of its rivals

Spotify amassed an impressive 223k+ reviews over the course of the last 12 months, more than 600 a day. It’s worth mentioning that most of these reviews come from the Android app, which is a recurring theme for music apps, struggling to break down Apple’s dominance in smartphone music.

Apple reviews account for just 7% of total reviews

Android apps get far greater volumes of feedback (read usage!) than their Apple counterparts. This isn’t necessarily surprising but what is shocking is the sheer scale of the issue. With less than 7% of the total reviews from these 10 music apps coming from Apple customers, it’s a damning indictment of competition in the Apple music space.

Tesco may well have made a mistake selling off blinkbox Music

Having sold blinkbox Music to Australian music company Guevera earlier this year, and having had recent success with their Tesco Mobile app, Tesco might have a bit more to shout about in a fortnight of otherwise not so great news had they held onto blinkbox Music. blinkbox Music comes out strongly in a field of ten major players who compete on a global level and they have the best liked Android app out of the list. They don’t have as many reviews as Spotify (few do) but they do have a credible volume of nearly 9k which is more than SoundHound, MTV Trax and Vevo.

Amazon has a really long way to go if it’s going to compete

The Amazon music feedback is perhaps the most surprising insight to come out of this piece of analysis. Second from last by a long way with just a quarter of the volume of 5 star reviews as the 3rd from bottom placed app TuneIn Radio. It doesn’t look like we can rely on Amazon to take on the likes of Apple based on the satisfaction levels of their music app customers.

BBC’s iPlayer Radio app isn’t liked at all

This is possibly stating the obvious given the table above but come on BBC! iPlayer is one of the best services on the internet yet change the app to music service and everything falls apart. Nearly 60% of the reviews of the Apple app are 1 star.

These aren’t all pure streaming apps but if Apple is indeed ploughing ahead with its intention to provide a streaming service then these guys better all watch out. We can see from the poor volume of reviews Apple music apps get, that there is little appetite for a move away from anything Apple provided. We can also see how successful the likes of Spotify and blinkbox are on Android and to a lesser degree on Apple so there is definitely a huge appetite somewhere but perhaps it can only be satiated with something crunchy and sweet!

BOOTH 4. 21

May 14 – 17, 2015 VIP Opening: Thursday May 14, 3 – 6 pm Public Opening: Thursday May 14, 6 – 8 pm

Brooklyn, NY, April 27, 2015 – ART 3 is proud to announce its participation at NADA New York, May 14-17, 2015, at Pier 36 | Basketball City, with emerging artist ANTHONY MILER: 12 PAINTINGS.

ANTHONY MILER: 12 PAINTINGS is a rotating solo exhibition by Brooklyn-based artist Anthony Miler. On each day of NADA NEW YORK four-day run, ART 3 will show three different works by this emerging talent. Doing so, the curators hope to convey the dynamic character intrinsic to Miler’s unique style of portraiture, which is as feral as the mixed-media concretions that give it shape.

Miler approaches his canvasses in order to labor, not to please. His artistry stems from what he terms a “linear” or drawing perspective, where the tactility of his materials (mainly oils, acrylics and spray paint) develops an almost sculptural quality that confronts viewers bodily. Rather than rely on presenting illusionistic perspectives, Miler’s paintings occupy a realm distinct from the images they portray, underscoring the sense of immediacy that sets him apart from his contemporaries.

The signal quality of Miler’s work relates, in part, to how he presents the human face. Faces appear motley in Miler’s work, even obscured, which does nothing to frustrate the feelings of tenderness they evoke. We are forced to care for them, to look at them, to consider them seriously, however much we might want to dismiss them.

Along with the sculptural materiality of his work, viewers are drawn to certain recognizable features (a nose, a mouth, but especially eyes) that captivate our attention by seeming to suggest something beyond the painting itself. While seemingly schematic, even absurd, the nakedness of the faces Miler renders is far from caricaturing anything.

Ultimately, a compositional whole is realized where face, body, and environment become a synthetic gestalt. The characteristic aspects of each tumble over into life, in all its haphazard directedness. In this manner, Miler invokes a conversation without having to fall back on the ungainliness of delivering a message

by Jeffrey Grunthaner

“One can see in Miler’s canvases and works on paper an affinity for the brutally reduced forms of the CoBrA Group, the insistent informality of Art Brut, or echoes of the forceful brushwork of Abstract Expressionists like Franz Kline, Philip Guston, and Willem de Kooning.” – Serena Qiu

ANTHONY MILER (American, b. 1982 in Toledo, Ohio) Brooklyn-based Anthony Miler received his MFA in painting from the City College of New York, CUNY in 2008, and also studied in the UK at the Central College Abroad and the London Metropolitan University in 2004. He has exhibited work at Ziehersmith, New York; Thierry Goldberg, New York; Regina Rex, Brooklyn; and Galleri Tom Christoffersen, Copenhagen, Denmark, among others. Press mentions include Architectural Digest (September 2014), the ARTSY Editorial Series (August 2014), and Sanat Dunyamiz Magazine (2014). In 2014, ART 3 mounted his first solo show in New York, titled “The Grisaille Paintings.”

ART 3 opened in Bushwick in May 2014 near Luhring Augustine, created by Silas Shabelewska, formerly of Haunch of Venison (Christie’s) and HN Gallery in partnership with Monika Fabijanska, former Director of the Polish Cultural Institute in New York. Showcase of Titan Wireless Implantable Hemodynamic Monitor at Aats Annual Meeting

Written by admin on Apr 24th, 2015 | Filed under: Press Releases

Integrated Sensing Systems Inc. (ISS) will showcase its Titan Wireless Implantable Hemodynamic Monitor and a summary of its first two clinical studies at the 95th Annual Meeting of the American Association of Thoracic Surgery (AATS)

Ypsilanti, Michigan, USA, April 22, 2015: Integrated Sensing Systems, Inc. (ISS) announced today that the company will exhibit its Titan Wireless Implantable Hemodynamic Monitor (IHM) system at the 95th annual meeting of the American Association of Thoracic Surgery (AATS) (Booth 1205) in Seattle, Washington (April 25–29).  ISS is conducting two clinical investigational studies: (1) monitoring left-heart (left atrium or left ventricle) hemodynamics to improve the long-term treatment of congestive heart failure (CHF) patients, and (2) monitoring the left atrium to improve the safety and treatment of LVAD patients.

ISS’ Titan IHM implant has been designed to have significant clinical and technical advantages over the currently marketed implantable hemodynamic monitor, including its ability to monitor the left side of the heart. The main goal of tailored medication for CHF patients is to maintain a fine balance between improving cardiac output (blood flow pumped by a ventricle) and sustaining a reasonable left-heart filling pressure. Therefore, left-heart pressure waveforms are the most desirable parameters for the management of patients with cardiovascular problems, since unlike using pulmonary artery pressures, left filling pressure is not adversely affected by common pulmonary comorbidities such as pulmonary embolism. Monitoring the left heart is, however, very challenging due to the stringent biocompatibility and hemodynamic requirements of the left heart.

ISS is developing two categories of products: IHM sensors that are implanted adjunct to a planned thoracic surgery and implants that are delivered percutaneously via catheter-based techniques in either the pulmonary artery (PA) or left atrium during a stand-alone procedure. Titan IHM is composed of three components: a Telemetric Implant, a Monitoring Unit, and the Database Management system for internet-based worldwide access.

Dr. Nader Najafi, ISS President and CEO, stated that, “the early results of our first-in-human experiences are very promising.  In addition to allowing optimized tailored medication for CHF patients, there have been many cases in which the Titan IHM product has assisted in both early identification and improved treatment of cardiac conditions such as different arrhythmias (atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia, atrial tachycardia, etc.), mitral regurgitation, and tamponade. ”

MONTROSE CA For those needing daily sunscreen protection, a new and advanced skin care formulation, Gloves In A Bottle SPF 15, is now available throughout the United States and Canada.

The newly formulated Gloves In A Bottle SPF 15 now offers a sunscreen for a woman’s face that is non-greasy and non-sticky and cosmetically elegant, no matter the occasion. Virtually undetectable, the dry skin lotion can be applied daily to one’s face and entire body as it is rapidly absorbed into the skin offering a practical high level of constant protection.

“We have been very excited and happy with the results using ‘Gloves In A Bottle’ shielding lotion. We feel it is one of the best moisturizing protective creams on the market. I have no reservations in prescribing “Gloves In A Bottle” dry skin treatment to patients,” said Dermatologist Dr. Peter Helton of Newport Beach, CA.

The new skin care lotion contains no parabens, fragrance-free, no colorants, no mineral oil or potentially harmful and irritating chemicals and contains 35% Aloe Vera plus four other natural botanicals. Gloves In A Bottle SPF 15 shields one’s skin from cold temperatures, wind and environmental pollutants rather than many of those competing products that use mineral oil as a base for the false appearance of soft healthy skin. Its newly designed bottle is easy to locate as with its deep blue bottle and yellow-orange cap, making it easy to find in any pharmacy where it is sold and is now available in 8 oz bottles.

Gloves In A Bottle uses no animal products or has been tested on animals and is considered vegan-free. Available over the counter, Gloves In A Bottle SPF 15 requires no prescription and considered by many dermatologists as a shielding lotion that really works. For those needing great sunscreen protection, it is the skin care lotion of choice.

“I was able to test out the SPF 15 over the weekend while I was in Las Vegas. I was very happy with the results! I get color pretty easily, especially my first time out in the sun for the year. I applied the sunscreen before we went to the NASCAR race, and came home with very little color. Everyone else with me got FRIED!!! Poor things.” – Sarah M, Los Angeles

Board-certified Dermatologist, Dr. Lisa Benest stated: “Gloves In A Bottle is a lotion that provides a natural barrier on top of the skin to protect it from outside chemicals and irritants. In addition it also acts to keep the moisture and the oils in the skin, so that the skin can heal itself. Shielding lotions not only protect the skin’s barrier but they restore the moisture to the skin and allow the skin to continue to moisturize itself, so that your skin does not become addicted on the moisturizer and ultimately cures the dry skin.”

Shielding lotions such as Gloves In A Bottle are available in the US and Canada at over 9,500 pharmacies and over 3,000 specialty shops. For more info call 800-600-1881, or visit

Indie Recording Artist and Composer Michael Walker Debuts His Hip-Pop/House Sound in Single “Rabbit Hole”

Written by admin on Apr 24th, 2015 | Filed under: Press Releases

The April 24 Red Carpet Event at a Private Location Will Feature
The Performance of Michael Walker, Sam Salter,
Shawn “Hazz” McDonald, Lou Baron,  Le Chic, and Vessels of Mary

(Los Angeles) April 23, 2015 – Combing hip-pop and house sounds, quintuple threat Michael Walker debuts his new single, “Rabbit Hole,” at a red carpet event on Friday, April 24, 2015, guest arrivals at 7 p.m. and followed by dinner at 8 p.m.  Performances start at 9:30 p.m.

The song, composed and performed by Walker, is an example of his eclectic dual country upbringing – Philippines and the U.S. – and his talent as an actor, model, and host.  “Rabbit Hole is expressed as a psychedelic storybook version of the fairy tales, “Alice in Wonderland” and “Romeo & Juliet,” with a twist of a post-modern freak show with a hip-pop sound,” said Walker.

The upcoming video, directed and written by Frenchman Jean Kinsella, will tell a story of a dreamer (Walker) who maneuvers through a human maze to reach his true love (Cailey Corio).   “As we all know love can be elusive and may appear more romantic and attainable in a dream,” says Walker. “When time freezes, the dreamer awakens and then the journey of love begins.”

Walker has been lauded as a rare millennial in the music world. He composes songs that not many hip-pop artists his age write about – peace, unity, self-esteem and environmental preservation. “I welcome success but also want to make a make difference through my music,” said Walker.  The soon-to-be released video is a creative collaboration between Kinsella and R&B Artist and Vocal Producer Sam Salter.

About Michael Walker:

A native of Southern California, Michael Walker’s maternal roots are from the Philippines.  He attributes his outgoing personality to his diverse experiences as a globe trotter from a young age.  Exposure to a variety of cultures and the entertainment industry has led Walker to pursue a career in Film, Commercial, and TV.  Trained by Hollywood veteran
Marki Costello, Walker has hosted public and private events as well as red carpet premieres and parties. Using the media platform, Walker created an anti-poverty awareness campaign along with his celebrity friends.

As a philanthropist and motivational speaker, Walker has worked with the LA Marathon for American Vets and the Junior High Academic Decathlon at the LA Convention Center where he rocked the house with more than 6,000 screaming teens.
